HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
back to machine

The current versions can only be run with IBM compatibles. At this stage the financial and technical difficulties hold us back from extending to the Mac. Whoever has ideas about the construction of a relays interface, please contact us.

System requirements:

The hardware consists of two elements:

The PARLOUR MAID MOTHERBOARD is connected to the serial printer port of the computer and translates the control stencil files, downloaded from the net, into the motor movements of the PARLOUR MAID. The motors are located on the motherboard to keep the machine lighter and easier to handle. At the same time one has to be careful to check if the motors can turn freely, otherwise the process will lead to unsatisfactory results.

The PARLOUR MAID consists of two orthogonal wagons. They are controlled by the motherboard and move the engraving pen across the window which is placed onto the skin. The electronic controls include the stop marks for left/right and up/down movement of the engraving pen, as well as the on/off signals to control the injection of ink.

The PARLOUR MAID only exists as a prototype. The instructions will be put on the net as soon as the prototype has been through a test phase. So far you can check out the construction site.
